SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.

In this edition we will showcase Alexandra de Beaulac, who plays club soccer in the ECNL for Players Development Academy (PDA) and has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I soccer for the University of Virginia in 2027.

What made you decide to verbally commit to the University of Virginia?

From the moment I stepped on campus, UVA felt like home. The culture of excellence, the competitive level of the ACC, and the family atmosphere and Legacy Coach Swanson and his staff have built. This all stood out to me. I knew this was the environment where I could grow both as a player and as a person.

What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?

Overall it was exciting, but stressful. I had to really think about what mattered most to me, like playing style, academics, and culture. I realized how important it is to trust myself and stay true to what I want.

How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Cavaliers?

I love being that forward who can finish but also create opportunities for others. I’m confident in my movement, my composure in front of goal, and linking up with teammates. My speed is another thing that sets me apart. I’ve run a 4.87 in the 40, which helps me stretch defenses and open up space. Along with my movement and composure in front of goal, I think I can bring a lot of energy and options to UVA’s attack.

What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?

I really enjoy history and English because they challenge me to think critically and communicate effectively. At UVA, I’d like to pursue pre-law with a focus on international relations or political science.

What has your experience been like playing for PDA in the ECNL?

PDA has been huge for me. Every practice and every game is competitive, and being around so many great players has pushed me to raise my level. It’s made me tougher and more prepared for what’s next. The ECNL has given me a National stage, and an opportunity to play against top talent across the country in Showcases. I’ve formed friendships I would never have gotten without the ECNL.

What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?

Definitely my Nike Phantom GX Elites. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and give me the touch and control I need as a striker.

If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?

Believe in yourself and never stop working, even when things get hard. Stay disciplined, keep learning, and surround yourself with people who push you to be better. Focus on what’s hard to do, not just the easy things.

Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?

My mom who softens my Dad, and my Dad who continues to push me beyond myself, they have been there every step of the way. My PDA Coach Mike O’Neil who saw something in me and took a chance, and Coach Swanson for giving me this opportunity. Finally my teammates, all amazing athletes who have made the journey fun and competitive.
