UMBC announces 11 additions to men’s soccer program for 2025 season

BALTIMORE – UMBC Head Men’s Soccer Coach Anthony Adams has announced the Retrievers’ incoming class for the 2025 campaign.
“I am thrilled with this year’s class as it represents the talented, high character, hardworking, traits we look for at UMBC,” Adams stated. “Given the significant number of seniors who graduated from last year’s team, we anticipate that this class will make an immediate contribution to the program. A credit to assistants Pete Caringi III, Bill Kerr and Quantrell Jones for their hard work.”
Six of the 11 newcomers hail from the state of Maryland.
2025 Incoming Class
Brady Geho, JR, Forward, 6-3, 180, Westminster, Md./Archbishop Curley
- A transfer from St. John’s, where he appeared in 28 career games
- Scored four goals in 2024
- Finished his high school career with 60 goals and 20 assists, netting 31 in his final campaign to lead the MIAA in 2022
- Named a United Soccer Coaches All-American after earning First Team All-State honors in 2022
- Also earned First Team All-State accolades in 2021
- Participated in the High School Soccer All-America game and tallied the first goal of the contest
- Annapolis Blues’ all-time USL 2 top scorer with 15 goals.
Andres Javitt, GR, Midfielder, 5-9, 165, Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela/Unidad Educativa Colegio Las Colinas
- A transfer from St. Bonaventure, where he led the Bonnies in points (13), goals (4), and assists (5) in 2024
- Netted nine goals and registered 17 assists in 34 career games
- Selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team after earning All-District honors.
- Also played two seasons at Montgomery College, where he scored 48 goals along with 28 assists
- Earned NJCAA All-America honors twice
Branden Johns, GR, Defender/Midfielder, 6-0, 165, Waldorf, Md./St. Mary’s Ryken
- A transfer from Villanova, where he made 36 career starts
- Produced six goals and four assists in 51 career games for the Wildcats
- Scored two goals at Maryland in 2023
- Played at the club level for Baltimore Armour
Yigit Kilic, JR, Defender, 6-3, 180, Istanbul, Turkey/Arel College
- A transfer from Caldwell and Seton Hall
- Earned Second Team All-CACC honors last season at Caldwell
- Tallied four goals, including game-winners at Saint Michael’s and Post
- Named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week (10/21/24)
- Started 16 games as a freshman in 2023 and was the CACC Rookie of the Week (9/5)
Trajan “Trae” Robeson, FR, Defender, 6-3, 175, Germantown, Md./Northwest
- Most recently played at the club level for Baltimore Armour (MLS Next)
- A member of the 2020 Maryland State ODP Team
- Played with the Potomac Soccer Club (EDP 1, USYS National League)
Shawn Shvartshtein, FR, Midfielder, 6-0, 170, Ontario, Canada/Bill Crothers
- Played for the Ocean City Nor’easters (South Jersey) of the USL League Two this summer
- Came up through the development system of Vaughan SC
- Selected to Ontario’s Provincial XCEL Team in 2023 & 2024
- Played with the FC Dallas U-19 team at the prestigious Dallas Cup in 2024, helping the squad reach the finals
- Following his success at an elite youth level, he played for Vaughan’s League 1 Ontario squad, which competes at the highest pre-professional level in Canada
Nolan Wimbrough, FR, Defender, 6-1, 180, Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York County
- Earned Penn Live All-Conference First Team honors in 2024
- Was also named to the Sentinel First Team
- Won a USYS Regional Championship with Keystone FC
- Played club for Baltimore Armour (MLS Next)
Jonas Nistad, FR, Midfielder, 6-0, 170, Forde, Norway/Forde Vidaregaande
- Played in Norway’s Under-19 national cup at the age of only 16
- Scored the game-winner in penalty shootouts in the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Norway Cup.
- His U16 squad won the Norway Cup and finished as the runner-up in the U17 tournament
- Won multiple state titles in futsal and soccer, both youth and senior
Ebert Valer, FR, Midfielder, 5-11, 165, Reisterstown, Md./Franklin
- Was named Second Team All-State and won multiple All-County awards at Franklin
- Named to the Second Team ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference Team as a member of Baltimore Celtic
- Was selected to participate in Spain’s LaLiga Select Showcase
Simon Vujinovic, FR, Midfielder, 6-3, 180, Stevensville, Md./Kent Island
- Earned All-State honors twice at Kent Island and was a two-year captain
- Named the North Bayside Conference Player of the Year
- Played for BUSA, SAC, and Maryland United (ECNL)
- Captained the Maryland United
- Selected to the ECNL Northeast All-Conference First Team
Nicholas Lentz, FR, Defender, 5-8, 155, Perry Hall, Md./Archbishop Curley
- Helped lead Curley to the MIAA “A” Conference championship game as a senior
- Named to the All-State First Team squad after earning Second Team accolades as a junior
- Earned MIAA recognition all four years of his prep career
- Was also named to the ECNL All-America squad in 2024
The Retrievers kick off the season at UNC Wilmington on August 21 and are set to return for their highly anticipated home opener on August 25 against Saint Peter’s.
