NORFOLK, VA – Old Dominion University women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind announced her eight-member recruiting class for the 2025 season.
“I am so thrilled to have this group of gifted and ambitious young women join our program. I think the class brings a great blend of talent and winning mentality which will add to the quality and depth of the team – something we will need to compete given the strong strength of schedule we have this year,” said Hind.
“As a staff we feel we really know this group well as people and are now excited to work with them and help them impact this program as soon as possible,” added Hind. “Whilst all unique in the qualities they possess as soccer players, since this recruiting process started with each of them, they have all shown a true desire to be part of this team and want to help push this program to future success.”
“As we begin the countdown to the start of the season, I am so excited to welcome them to our Monarch Family and can’t wait to see what they can do here at ODU,” said Hind.

An All-State selection in 2022 and 2024, the incoming freshman was an All-American in her senior season in high school as well as the PA Soccer Coaches Player of the Year. Economopoulos was a member of the Penn Fusion Club Soccer Team.
“Ashley is a forward that we have seen develop into one of the best young attacking players in the region, she is so hard-working and tireless in her desire to support and provide attacking options and her link up play is fantastic,” said Hind. “She comes from one of the consistently strongest youth clubs in the country and with that background we have seen her get better and better and so I am genuinely eager to see just how much impact she will have as a Monarch. A true striker that I know will pair well with our current forwards and style of play, she certainly has shown to provide both assists and goals a plenty”

Kappmeier was primarily used as a wingback but can also be found in the midfield or elsewhere in the defensive backline.
“I am very happy to have Finja join our program as I believe she has so many qualities that both fit well into our style of play but also for what we are looking to add this year,” added Hind. “She has all the qualities needed for a true wingback given her athleticism, ability to get up and down the field, but specifically as a defender she does so well to step and also understand covering moments. on the ball she provides great timing to support and quality in the final third. Being able to play both sides of the field also gives great versatility in how she can help strengthen our team. As a person I feel she will fit in so easily to our team as she is committed, a winner, and has genuine team values.”

“It is difficult to find quality wide players and yet we have found a really great one in Koto, she has such great feet and technical ability to beat players in 1v1 situations on both sides of the field, but even more exciting is that she has an end product whether it be a quality cross, final pass or strike,” said Hind. “I believe she has the ability to be really dynamic in the final third and I am excited to see her learn from and develop around the talented attacking players we have here already. I look forward to being on the field with Koto and to have her as part of this program.”

“Maddy joined us in January and so we have been fortunate to have seen her potential already this spring, she has so many great qualities and yet remains humble to continue to develop,” said Hind. “She has great fitness levels and is a ball winner in midfield. Those qualities teamed with her technical ability on the ball means she has already found her way into our midfield unit. The ‘X’ factor that is most exciting for Maddie is her desire to get forward and score and be an influencing factor in and around the box. She brings an edge to our midfield in attack that I believe has made us better and I’m excited to see her impact in her first fall here as a Monarch”

I believe she is very much ready to challenge herself at this level and I’m excited to see just how impactful she can be here as a freshman.”

“Ceci is another local player that I am very excited to join this team, she is such a winner and brings that intensity to her play all the time,” said Hind. “Being somewhat versatile in her ability to play both midfield and in the back line highlights her soccer IQ and understanding both defensively where she is such a tough tackling player, but also on the ball she can solve pressure and play out of pressure so well. Quality is always important for us but with Ceci we also have a tremendous winning mentality, something that we know can be a difference maker.
