ECNL Boys Playoffs 2025: Reigning champions shine on Day 2

The ECNL Boys Playoffs continued on June 26 in Seattle, with an exciting slate of games played in front of hundreds of college coaches.
See below for a rundown of some of the top action from Day 2.
Reigning Champs Recap: Pipeline SC 2011
The youngest reigning champions at ECNL Boys National Playoffs, Pipeline SC’s 2011 team had a near perfect start to their postseason campaign, battling Solar SC in their opening match.
Pipeline SC got going from the opening whistle, and just two minutes into the match, opened the scoring when midfielder Charlie Swoot was on the receiving end of strong ball movement and buried his shot for the lead.
Not even 10 minutes later, Pipeline made it a 2-0 game. Pipeline SC brought the ball down the right side of the pitch and sent a service into the box, where Brayden Kowalik kicked the ball out of midair into the net for the score.
Kowalik added his second of the match in the 25th minute after capitalizing on a Solar SC miscommunication, putting the reigning champs comfortably ahead heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Solar SC tightened up its defense, collapsing on Pipeline SC’s players and limiting their passing abilities, which in turn opened up the offensive chances. Solar SC started pushing, creating sustained pressure in the attacking third and starting to wear down Pipeline SC. However, against the run of play, Swoot had the ball low and passed it back into the 18-yard box, where Alexander Kennedy was there to knock it in for the team’s fourth goal of the game.
Solar SC continued battling, even after going down a man with just five minutes remaining, and broke the clean sheet in the last few minutes of the match. But at the final whistle, Pipeline SC walked away with a 4-1 win and a strong start to their title defense.
Swoot said it’s a blast playing with his teammates and they’re all ready for the challenge of defending their crown.
“Getting a win today just helps us build momentum to carry us through the group stage,” Swoot said. “It’s a fun challenge, trying to win again, but it’s more pressure on us. Everyone’s going to give us their best trying to beat us. But we want to go as far as we can, and I know we have the team to do it.”
