USC brings in sophomore transfers from Northwestern and Mississippi State

LOS ANGELES – The USC women’s soccer program announced two more additions to its 2025 incoming class this week, welcoming sophomore transfers Tanna Schornstein from Northwestern, and Ines Simas from Mississippi State.

Schornstein, a defender, spent her freshman year at Northwestern, where she played and started in 19 games for the Wildcats. Prior to that, the San Diego native played club soccer for ​​the San Diego Surf Soccer Club.

Simas, a native of Portugal, played her freshman year at Mississippi State, where she helped lead the Bulldogs to an NCAA Tournament appearance where they were the fourth No.1 seed in the tournament. The midfielder appeared in 20 games and started in 3, including the Bulldogs two SEC conference tournament games.

USC announced its incoming class in November, with the incoming Trojan freshmen ranked the No. 10 class in the nation. Schornstein and Simas are the third and fourth transfers to join USC in the offseason, following Sophia Cavaliere, who joined USC in December, and Amalie Pianim who joined in early May. The Trojans are coming off of a season in which they won a Big Ten Title and advanced to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Highlights:

  • Averaged 89.7 minutes per game, and played a full 90 minutes in 18 of her 19 starts

  • Tallied a career-high 87 minutes in a win during the first round of the SEC Tournament against Tennessee on Nov. 5
  • Played 54 combined minutes in Mississippi State’s two NCAA Tournament games
  • Played her club soccer with S.L. Benfica’s academy team
