Accomplished goal-scorer Kyra Taylor joins Mississippi State

STARKVILLE – Rising junior Kyra Taylor will join the Mississippi State soccer program for the 2025 season after a two-year career at Louisiana Tech.

In her first collegiate season, Taylor was named the 2023 C-USA Freshman of the Year after scoring a team-leading and Louisiana Tech-freshman-record nine goals. She was named one of the Top 100 Freshmen in the country by TopDrawerSoccer. She played in every match and recorded a freshman-record three multi-goal matches.

Last year, she again led Louisiana Tech’s offensive attack, posting 29 shots and 16 shots on goal while starting all 17 matches. She picked up her fourth career multi-goal game and scored three times. Academically, she earned CSC Academic All-District honors last year and was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the second time.

Taylor graduated from Longview High School in Texas where she lettered in volleyball, basketball and track and field. She played club soccer for Dallas Texans, winning the 2021 Dallas International Cup, 2020 Disney Showcase Championship and two USCS National Championships. Taylor and the Texans twice qualified for the ECNL Champions League.
