U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Premier Leagues set to open 2012-2013 season

The U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Premier Leagues for boys and girls teams in the Under-14 through Under-18 age groups will begin play Aug. 15 in the Premier League Central, with the Southern Premier League and Premier League East starting up Aug. 18 and the Premier League West beginning Aug. 25.

The U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Premier Leagues provide an opportunity for the most competitive teams in Region III (South) to play each other on a scheduled basis while also competing for placement in the prestigious U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships.

Each age group will consist of an eight-team bracket. The Southern Premier League consists of three teams from the East and West and two teams from the Central divisions. Teams qualify into the Regional Premier Leagues through their performance from the prior year of play.

Champions of the Southern Premier League will advance to the Region III Championships, the regional stage of the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship Series and the oldest and most prestigious national championship competition in the country. Three slots to the Region III Championships will be awarded through the sub-regional play (East, Central, West) to the highest finishing team.
