New board members elected at 2012 US Youth Soccer AGM

The US Youth Soccer membership recently elected new board members at the Annual General Meeting at Charlotte Marriott Executive Park in Charlotte N.C., held in conjunction with the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, S.C.

Several positions were up for election including president, secretary and two of four regional director positions in addition to two newly created positions of Independent Director.

John Sutter ran unopposed for his second term as president as did Alan Blinzler for secretary and Bill Podewils as Region II director. Ken Edmunds was elected Region IV director, taking the place of Jolene Nielsen, who held the position since 2006. Edmunds was formerly the president of Idaho Youth Soccer.

After completing his two-year term as immediate past president, Larry Monaco’s time on the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors has come to a close. Monaco served as president for four years prior to his service as past president.

The two newly elected independent directors are Shawn Morris of Nashville, Tenn. and Michael Humphrey of Dallas, Texas. These two new board positions were created to provide input from highly successful, independent individuals. The growth represents a step forward for US Youth Soccer as the organization continues to evolve to best serve the membership and excel in the marketplace of youth soccer.
