RICHMOND, VA (Via ECNL) – The Elite Clubs National League has announced the 2017 recipients of the H.E.R. Coaching Scholarships (Health & Education Resources).
Twelve women from across the country were chosen from a deep pool of talented applicants to continue their coaching development and receive a scholarship from the ECNL to pursue a USSF “D” or “E” coaching license.
Launched in 2015, the H.E.R. Coaching Scholarship Program was created by the ECNL specifically for ECNL Alumni and aspiring female coaches. The program aims to encourage top current or former female players to enter the coaching profession, encourage continuing education within the profession, and continually raise the level of play in female youth soccer.
“The expectations placed on today’s coaches are continuously changing. The ECNL is committed to Raise the Game at the coaching level, with a primary focus on support for female coaches to provide additional opportunities to learn and improve their craft,” said Jen Winnagle, ECNL Commissioner. “By supporting the growth and education of women coaches specifically, we hope to continue to increase the number of former female players that transition to coaching in youth soccer when their playing careers are complete.”
Of the 12 recipients, one is a current ECNL player, eight are ECNL alumni, two are ECNL alumni currently on staff with an ECNL member club and one is a current coach at an ECNL member club. The winners are:
