SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.
In this edition we will showcase Brooke Jioia, who plays for SUSA in the ECNL, and has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I soccer for Louisiana Tech in 2027.
SoccerWire Featured Player since September 2023.
What made you decide to verbally commit to Louisiana Tech?
First off, the coaching staff was great and every conversation I had with them was a good one. Coach Voltz and Coach Starr have been incredible through this process. The weekend long official visit really allowed me to get to know the current team and experience what it’s like to be a part of LaTech soccer. The soccer specific facilities are absolutely incredible as well as the dorms. After meeting the University President, it was very obvious that the school supports their athletic program and is committed to their student athletes success on and off the field
What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?
I learned that when a school and a coaching staff really want you, you will know it.
How do you feel your strengths on the field will help your college team?
The LaTech coaching staff demands their keepers be aggressive and physical in the 18 and also be able to excel at distributing the ball. I believe those are areas that can be strengths of mine.
What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?
My favorite subjects in school are English and history. I want to pursue a career in law enforcement in the future so I’m very open to what I’ll be studying at LaTech
What has your experience been like playing for SUSA in the ECNL?
Playing at SUSA has allowed me to grow as a goalkeeper in ways I would not have been able to do anywhere else. Training at such a high level with some of the best players in the country and competing against the best ECNL clubs on a regular basis has elevated my game to the next level. SUSA’s facilities and keeper training sessions are also some of the best in the country.
What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?
Predator Accuracy Laceless FG ‘Nightstrike Pack’
If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?
The biggest thing is to really find a love for the sport. That passion is what pushes you to put in the extra work and become the best player you can be. There will be ups and downs along the way, but if you keep that love and stay consistent, you will end up where you’re meant to be.
Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?
I would like to thank my parents and my sister for always being there for me throughout everything no matter what. I’d like to thank my strength trainer Bryan and my SUSA coaches, especially the girl’s keeper staff, Mervin and Steve. I’d also like to thank my SUSA and Xaverian teammates.
