SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.

In this edition we will showcase Molly McBride, who plays club soccer in the ECNL for San Juan SC and has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I soccer for the University of Florida in 2027.

What made you decide to verbally commit to the University of Florida?

The University of Florida was the best fit for me academically and athletically. I was fortunate this summer to play on San Juan’s USL-W team with a current gator, Lena Bailey, and she spoke very positively about her experience on the team. The recruiting process and visit was over the top and I was drawn into Coach Samantha, Adam, Austin and Kelly’s vision of the program and how I can contribute as a freshman and in the future years to the team. The team culture, athlete center and campus felt like home. I am looking forward to the school, soccer program and endless opportunities to eat at waffle houses with Coach Adam, Austin and the rest of the staff/team!

What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?

The recruiting process was exciting and stressful. I learned how to make tough decisions and really understand what my priorities are in college. I met so many wonderful coaches and players on the visits I went on, it was incredible and scary all at once.

How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Gators?

As a goalkeeper, I have played on many different teams including club, regional, national and high school teams. I believe my biggest strength is my adaptability in goal and willingness to learn from the senior team members. My goal is to contribute as early as possible to the team and apply my individual strengths including communication, distribution and shot blocking.

What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?

My favorite subjects are Art and Math. I plan to study business administration in college.

What has your experience been like playing for San Juan SC in the ECNL?

Playing for San Juan and in the ECNL program has been awesome. I joined San Juan right after COVID as it has the best goalkeeper training in our region. The exposure for college recruiting at ECNL events and showcases started as early as 8th grade. San Juan’s college recruitment director, Katie Blough and our Executive Director, Zeca Neto have been so supportive in my development and recruiting.

What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?

I bought these gold limited edition Nike Tiempo legend cleats 2 years ago off stock X. Too expensive of a habit too keep up, but cool for half a season

If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?

Have a sense of humor and a good support system with friends and coaches. Relationships are everything and have fun.

Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?

My family and friends. They have supported all the ups and downs.
