DAYTON (Via University of Dayton) – University of Dayton women’s soccer head coach Eric Golz announced today that Carly Becker will join the Flyers.

Becker, a 6-foot-0 goalkeeper from Olympia, Wash., is transferring to Dayton after two seasons with University of Portland. She will be a redshirt sophomore in the fall of 2019 for the Flyers.

“We are excited about Carly joining the Flyers as she will be a great addition to our program in the classroom, on the field, and in the campus community,” said Golz. “She arrives with some valuable collegiate experience, which has helped her develop a strong foundation of maturity, presence, and confidence.  She is a good shot stopper, organizer, and distributor; and she will immediately add competition and depth to our goalkeeping position.”

Prior to Portland, she played with the Washington ODP travel team in 2015-16 and was part of the ODP Player Pool in 2014-15.

She played club with Washington Premier FC in the ECNL and was previously a team captain with Blackhills FC.

Becker played three seasons at Olympia High School where she was a team captain, earned First Team All-SPSL and All-Area as a senior, and helped the Bears reach the Washington 4A State Playoffs all three years. She had a season-high 17 saves during a match in 2016.

She was a member of National Honor Society in high school and will be a mechanical engineering major at Dayton.

Becker is part of a solid class of 10 newcomers to the Flyers:
