NYCFC Academy teams prepare for Generation adidas Cup qualifiers

(Via NYCFC) – The New York City FC Academy U-15s and U-17s are both back in Generation adidas Cup action this weekend in Georgia.

Following two games of preliminary qualifying which took place before Christmas, both sides are in contention to qualify for the Championship Division in Frisco ahead of this batch of qualifiers.

NYCFC will lock horns with Red Bulls, DC United and Philadelphia at U-15 and U-17 level between Friday and Saturday.

The U-17s go into the weekend’s East Region play in fourth position out of seven with a W2-D0-L1 record, while our U-15s also resume in fourth place with a W1-D1-L0 record.

This is, of course, a significant competition for NYCFC, thanks to last year’s Generation adidas Cup triumph in Frisco which was achieved by a squad which included Joe Scally, Justin Haak, Gio Reyna, who have all played a part on the first-team’s preseason to date.
