The Stetson University men’s soccer program has released a statement announcing the termination of head coach Cristian Neagu.

Neagu has served as head coach of the Hatters’ soccer program since 2018. The statement, featured below, cites ‘violation of University policies and procedures’, as the reason for Neagu’s termination:

“The safety of student-athletes is the top priority of Stetson University Athletics and during a routine background check and audit, it was discovered that Cristian Neagu, the head coach of the men’s soccer program, has been in violation of University policies and procedures. Upon this discovery, university athletics took immediate and appropriate action. The university holds athletics staff members to the highest level of integrity to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes.

Stetson will begin a national search for a new head coach in the immediate future.”
