U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference Recap: Week 12

U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference clubs across all divisions were active over the weekend.

U-14

The New York Red Bulls won their third straight match, putting on a dominant performance in a 6-0 rout of Met Oval. Five players found the net for the Red Bulls’ balanced attack, led by Kyle Linhares‘ brace.

New York City FC downed in-state opponent World Class FC 3-0, behind a three-goal flurry in the second half. Nicholas Kapanadze netted two and Balthazar Saunders scored one in the win for NYCFC, with the last two scores coming in the final two minutes. Goalkeepers Sebastian Cutler and Emmanuel Smalios each played a half to combine for the clean sheet in net, playing behind NYCFC’s strong back line.

Bethesda SC blanked Virginia Development Academy in a hard-fought 1-0 decision, as Cole Hyland scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 14th minute. Goalkeeper Eric Huberty recorded the shutout for Bethesda, while defenders Noah Adnan, Simon Hall and Camran Khosravi played full time. It was Bethesda’s fifth victory in the team’s past six matches.

Arlington Soccer Association picked up a 3-0 road win over Richmond United on Saturday at Ukrop Park. Joseph Core set the tone with two goals in the first 13 minutes of the match, and Mathews Tejeda added an insurance strike early in the second half. Jonah Garufi and Diego Gonzalez played full time defensively for Arlington in the shutout, playing in front of goalkeepers Nicholas Bergersen and Gabriel Barros who split time between the posts.

Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen came out on top of a thrilling 4-3 contest against New England Revolution, capped off by a last-minute game-winner by Anthony Alvites. Cedar Stars took a 2-1 lead into halftime, behind a 14th minute goal by Alvites and a 26th minute score by Merdi Nkiliko. In the first minute of the second half, New England’s Gabriel Padilla netted an equalizer. Cedar Stars midfielder Thomas Altirs scored to make it 3-2 in the 52nd, before Revolution forward Michael Tsicoulias once again equalized in the 75th, ahead of Alvites’ decisive goal.

Kendall SC blanked Chargers SC 3-0, fueled by a three-goal second half rally. Luis Fernandez-Valle recorded a brace and Andres Dapena netted one, as the Kendall defense notched its third clean sheet of the season.

Beachside SC edged out New York SC by a 1-0 scoreline on Sunday, as a 49th minute strike from Amel Sehic proved to be the different in the match. The win was Beachside’s third in a row, with all three coming in shutout fashion.

U-15/16

BW Gottschee Academy (6-1-3) emerged with a thrilling 4-3 win over Everton FC Westchester following a major second half comeback. Everton took a 3-1 lead into halftime behind a hat trick from Eoin Keogh, but second half goals by Gottschee’s Joseph Moulton-Condiotti (42′), Joseph Koroma (61′) and Diego Montes (70′) brought the team all the way back for its second straight win.

The New York Red Bulls (8-2-2) secured an impressive 3-1 road win against the New England Revolution on Sunday.  Jack Valderrabano (45′), Sean Ryan (52′) and Aziel Jackson (68′) racked up a trio of second half scores for the Red Bulls.

Boca United FC (3-7-1) stunned IMG Academy on a 78th minute game-winner by Christian Vinasco in a 2-1 decision. The teams had appeared to be headed for a draw after IMG’s Ethan Sawdon (14′) and Boca United’s Alexandre Guichard (36′) exchanged first half goals.

U-17/18

Orlando City SC (11-1-0) withstood a three-goal rally in the second half by Weston FC to capture a 5-3 victory in one of the highest scoring games of the weekend. Joe Gallardo fueled Orlando’s potent attack with a hat trick, as Isaque Couto and Raul Aguilera also found the net in the win.

In a match-up of two division leaders, the New England Revolution (6-0-4) extended their unbeaten streak to 10 with a 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls (10-2-0). The Red Bulls took an early lead in the 7th minute on a score by Kevin O’Toole, but the Revolution quickly rallied to go ahead within the next 24 minutes, as Alex Shterenberg (23′) and Izaiah Jennings (31′) found the net for the Northeast Division leaders.

The Philadelphia Union (7-1-1) cruised past Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth by a 7-1 score, with four goals coming courtesy of Tiger GrahamAnthony Fontana, Justin McMaster and Issa Rayyan also scored for the Union in the blowout.

IMG Academy (4-5-2) blanked Boca United FC 1-0 on Saturday in the team’s second straight clean sheet win. Esteban Correa scored the game-winner in the 48th minute, while the IMG defense notched its third shutout of the season.

Chargers SC (1-6-4) recorded its first victory of the season, blanking in-state opponent 2-0. Henry Howell (15′) and Christopher Drost (80′) provided the scoring, as goalkeeper Alexander Huddleston and the back line recorded their first clean sheet of the season.
