Sitting in first in the Atlantic Division is Philadelphia Union (7-0-1, 22 points), who held off the New York Red Bulls (5-1-2, 17 points) with a 1-0 win. Zion Scarlett scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, his sixth of the season. The Union are just one of two Eastern Conference sides (the other being the Montreal Impact) that remains undefeated through league play.

Baltimore Armour (6-2-0, 18 points) earned a big win on Sunday, a 7-0 victory over PA Classics (1-6-1, 4 points). Toshi Davis scored four goals for Armour (6’, 57’, 63’, and 73’) while individual goals were scored by Emanuel Perez Reyes (40’), Truce Norton (53’) and Ian MacIver (73’). Goalkeeper Peyton Carpenter earned the clean sheet behind Baltimore’s strong back line, their second in as many games and fourth of the season.

D.C. United (6-1-2, 20 points) made short work of Virginia Development Academy, defeating their neighbors by the score of 5-1. Midfielders Amir Moore (19’ and 79’) and Darrell Turcios (47’ and 78’) each scored a brace while forward Gage Lyons added a goal in the 78th minute. VDA’s lone goal came from midfielder Matthew Woldemichael in the 26th minute. D.C. have now won three matches in a row, a season-best for the side.

In the Northeast Division, Cedar Stars Academy-Bergen (7-2-1, 22 points) inched closer to the top spot with their 1-0 win over Empire United (2-7-1, 7 points). Jacob Lee provided the go-ahead goal for Bergen in the 65th minute. Lee came on as a tactical substitution in the 46th minute and paid immediate dividends by galvanizing the attack. His goal was his second of the season.

The reason Bergen were able to gain ground was because the top two sides, the Montreal Impact (7-0-2, 23 points) and the Boston Bolts (7-1-1, 22 points) played to a 3-3 draw. Montreal’s goals were scored by Gabriel Antinoro (3’ and 37’) and Jean Aniel Assi (44’) while Boston’s goals came from forward Marc Hiranandani (27’ and 60’) and defender Henri Richter (51’). Hiranandani has now scored seven goals this season, which is tied for eighth most among all U-15 players in the Eastern Conference.

New York City FC (6-4-0, 18 points) had a big weekend, defeating BW Gottschee Academy 5-0. Simon Adjkakple (15’ and 61’) led all scorers with two goals, pushing his season total to four. Additional goals for NYCFC were scored by Max Fujimori (30’), Agustin de Armas (60’) and Aidan Percic (78’). The five-goal outburst was a season-best for The Pigeons.

Chargers Soccer Club (7-1-1, 22 points) stayed in first in the Southeast Division after earning six points over the weekend. On Saturday they held off third place North Carolina FC Youth (5-2-1, 16 points) 4-3. The Chargers leaped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Tyler Crawford (24’ and 29’) and Hayden Morgan (15’). While Cristian Milazzo (35’) pulled North Carolina to within two, Riley Cullum extended the lead back to three with a goal in the 39th minute. Osvaldo Monreal (43’ and 79’) got NCFC to within one in the second half but the Chargers defense did enough in the final minutes to get the win.

Sunday was a little bit easier for Chargers as they took care of the North Carolina Fusion (2-5-1, 7 points) by the score of 3-0. Riley Cullum (25’, 31’, and 33’) scored all three goals for the Chargers, giving his defense a bit of breathing room after a tough Saturday match. His 13 goals are tied for third most among all U-15 players in the USSDA. Goalkeeper Connor Holmes earned his club’s third shutout of the season.

It was the second consecutive match that Philadelphia had scored four goals in a match.

But credit to VDA’s attack for keeping up the pressure. It paid off late in the second half with Seth Hammond (63’) and Charles Kurz (85’) each scoring for VDA.
