Tobin Heath accepts position with Portland Thorns FC Girls DA

Portland Thorns FC has announced that midfielder Tobin Heath has expanded her role with the club, assuming a position at the youth level with the club’s newly formed development academy set to launch in the fall of 2017 as the Thorns FC Assistant Youth Technical Director.

Washington Spirit Development Academy in VA adds four coaches

The Washington Spirit Development Academy program in Virginia has added four coaches to its staff for the inaugural 2017-2018 U.S. Soccer Girls Development Academy season. Former U.S. Women’s National Team and Washington Spirit midfielder Lori Lindsey will join the Spirit’s Virginia Academy Director Tom Torres for the club’s opening season, along with accomplished area youth coaches George Hales, Gary Malebranche and Kayley Sullivan.

Gunston SC latest addition to Washington Spirit Girls DA strategy

Fairfax based Gunston Soccer Club has become the second Virginia youth soccer club to sign on as a U.S. Soccer Development Academy Partner of the Washington Spirit. In addition to providing Gunston’s older female players with a direct pathway to the professional game, the partnership will see both clubs’ coaching staffs working together on several new player development initiatives at all ages.

Sky Blue FC partners with youth club New York Surf SC

Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League has has established a club partnership with New York Surf SC. As part of the relationship, it was also confirmed that NY Surf will host a preseason match between Sky Blue FC and St. John’s University at Belson Stadium on Saturday, March 25.

Miriam Hickey named Director of U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy

U.S. Soccer has announced the hiring of Miriam Hickey as the Director of the Girls' Development Academy. Hickey joins U.S. Soccer after working as a Women's Football Instructor for FIFA, a National Development Officer for the Netherlands Football Federation (KNVB), and most recently as the Girls' Director of Coaching at Troy Soccer Club in Michigan.
