University of Tulsa adds Caroline Stanley to coaching staff

Tulsa

(Via University of Tulsa) – The University of Tulsa women’s soccer head coach Kyle Cussen announced today the addition of Caroline Stanley to the Golden Hurricane coaching staff.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to have Caroline join our staff,” Cussen said. “This is the first time that we will have a fulltime goalkeeper coach, which will bring a new dynamic to our program and help strengthen that position for us. Caroline was a member of the US National Team program and played professionally for three years, so her experience will help continue a professional culture within our program. She is known not only regionally, but nationally, so that will help in the recruiting side of her coaching position as well. We are excited to have Caroline with us and are ready to get started.”

Stanley, a native of Kansas City, Mo., comes to Tulsa after serving as the men’s and women’s goalkeeper coach at Casady (Oklahoma) High School during the 2017 season.

“I am looking forward to stepping into a college coaching role because I’m passionate about the game of soccer and about teaching the next generation,” Stanley said. “I am looking forward to empowering strong women on and off the field, and with so much history and potential, I want to make an immediate impact.”

Prior to her stint at OKC Casady, Stanley played in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for the Seattle Reign (2015), Sky Blue New Jersey (2016) and Orlando Pride (2017).

Stanley was a three-year letterwinner at the University of Southern California, after playing her freshman season at the University of Missouri. She started in 55 of 58 games at USC, and recorded 10 clean sheets and had 245 saves in her career.

Stanley represented the U.S. Youth Women’s National Team as a member of the U15, U17, U18 and U20 teams. She also played for Lee’s Summit North High School, where she earned back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Year honors from the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association. Stanley was a two-time first-team all-state honoree and Examiner all-area first-team selection. She was also a member of the KCFC Intensity, Scream and Pink Panthers club teams, winning four state titles and capturing the 2011 Summer National Championship with KCFC.

Stanley served as the ECNL Head of Alumni Database and Player Education in 2017, and coached for both EXCEL Goalkeeping (2014-16) and Dynasty Goalkeeping (2013).

Stanley earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in May 2015 from USC.

Stanley replaces assistant coach Yolanda Thomas who was named the Rogers State women’s soccer head coach in December.
