Yoann Damet named Montreal Impact Academy U-18 head coach

MONTREAL (Via Montreal Impact) – The Montreal Impact Academy announced on Wednesday the nomination of Yoann Damet as the Impact U-18 head coach.

Yoann joined the Impact in 2014 as the Pre-Academy coordinator, U-11 head coach and assistant fitness coach. He will keep the title of Pre-Academy coordinator as well as the title of Impact U-18 head coach.

Damet ensures the team’s continuing success of past years in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA), a team that reached the semifinals twice over the last two years.

“I’m really happy and excited to take charge of the U-18 group starting January,” said Yoann Damet. “With the results they had over the last couple of years and the importance of this age category, the goal is to bring continuity in what was already built and in the development project of the Academy.”

“The quality of his work and his profile made him a perfect candidate for this job,” said Montreal Impact Academy director Philippe Eullaffroy.

Damet holds a UEFA A coaching licence and a degree in Sports Training (soccer specific, France). Damet was the coach of the U13 team for Beaune FC (DH), from 2006 to 2011, and then coach of the U-17 and U-15 Inter-Ligues with Jura Sud Foot (CFA) from 2011 to 2013. Prior to joining the Impact, he was also coach of the U11 and assistant coach of the U-15 Inter-Ligues teams of Dijon FCO (Ligue 2).

Simon Gatti was the Impact U-18 interim head coach after Jason Di Tullio joined the first team as assistant coach, in August. Gatti will be back full time as assistant coach of the USL FC Montreal team.
