BALTIMORE (Via UMBC) – UMBC Women’s Soccer Head Coach Leslie Wray has announced the Retrievers’ schedule for the 2015 season, which includes 10 games in the state of Maryland, including a pair of Battle of Baltimore contests set to take place at Retriever Soccer Park, as well as a tournament at George Mason.

“I am very happy with our out-of-conference schedule,” said Wray. “We have kept the competitive local rivals on the schedule and are excited to host the second annual Battle of Baltimore. We have also added quality teams like Appalachian State, UNC Wilmington and George Washington, which are teams we have not played in my tenure.”

Wray, who has guided UMBC to a 25-10-5 record over the last two seasons, begins her fourth season at the helm of the Retrievers’ program on the road against Navy on Friday, Aug. 21. UMBC closes out the opening weekend on Sunday, Aug. 23when it welcomes Bucknell to Retriever Soccer Park for the Dawgs’ home opener. UMBC revives its rivalry against George Mason on Friday, Aug. 28 in a Retriever home soccer doubleheader, followed by a matchup in Washington, D.C. versus American two days later.

UMBC travels to Fairfax, Va. on the weekend of Sept. 4 when the Retrievers take on Appalachian State (Sept. 4) and UNC Wilmington (Sept. 6) in the George Mason Tournament. The following weekend, the Retrievers host the opening night of the Battle of Baltimore, first featuring a matchup between Mount St. Mary’s and Towson. The Retrievers take on Loyola in the night cap (Sept. 11). UMBC concludes the Battle of Baltimore at the Mount on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Retrievers conclude the non-conference schedule with a trip to Delaware State on Thursday, Sept. 17, followed by a matchup versus George Washington on Thursday, Sept. 24.

“The first part of our schedule is designed to prepare us for another year of challenging conference play,” explained Wray. “It is our goal to get back to the conference tournament for the third year in a row and challenge for the championship.”

Wray and the Retrievers open America East action seeking their third trip to the conference tournament in the four years. UMBC begins the quest in the familiar confines of Retriever Soccer Park with a matchup against Albany on Sunday, Sept. 27. The Dawgs hit the road for a matchup at UMass Lowell on Thursday, Oct. 1, before returning home for contests against Vermont (Oct. 4) and Hartford (Oct. 8).

The Retriever close out the regular season with three of four contests on the road, starting with a trip to Maine on Sunday, Oct. 11. UMBC celebrates Senior Day against New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 18, before closing out the year with battles at Binghamton (Oct. 22) and Stony Brook (Oct. 25).

The America East Championship first round is set for Thursday, Oct. 29. The semifinals are set for Sunday, Nov. 1, followed by the finals on Sunday, Nov. 7, with all games scheduled to be held at the higher seed.
