Two players added to University of Maryland men’s soccer 2015 squad

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Via Maryland Athletics) – Maryland men’s soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski has added two more players to an already stellar 2015 recruiting class with the signing of Cody Albrecht and Paul Bin, the program announced Wednesday.

“I am delighted to welcome Cody and Paul to the Maryland men’s soccer program,” Cirovski said. “Our great class just got even better and we are very excited to begin the season.”

Albrecht is a graduate transfer from St. John’s where he competed for the Red Storm for two years while injury forced him to the sidelines for another two. A former Gatorade Maryland Boys Soccer Player of the Year from DeMatha Catholic, Albrecht was Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year, Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Prince George’s County Player of the Year after tallying a state-record 31 assists as a senior to lead the Stags to a 24-0 record and the WCAC Championship title. The midfielder from Calverton, Md., helped the DC United Academy squad win back-to-back MLS Sum Cup Championships (2009-10).

“Cody is an established high quality NCAA Division I midfielder who had two great years at St. John’s University under Dave Masur, one of the finest college coaches in the game,” Cirovski said. “He is a tremendous competitor and leader. As a grad student, his experience and quality will be of great value for our 2015 season.”

Bin comes to Maryland from one of the top youth academies, Real Salt Lake AZ. RSL AZ has produced countless top college players, as well as professional players for parent club, Real Salt Lake. Bin has been a key contributor for RSL AZ record-setting season in the US Soccer Academy. Originally from South Korea, Bin lived in London before residing in Arizona during his high school career. Bin has also been involved with the South Korean Youth National Team program in recent years

“Paul is a dynamic attacking player with very good technical skills and great speed,” Cirovski said. “He can play any of the forward or wide midfield positions. He has been an integral part of the RSL U-18 Academy and will do the same for our program.”

The Terps open the 2015 regular season campaign on the road at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind., before welcoming UCLA for the home opener on Sept. 4.
