Tickets for U.S. Women’s National Team Fan Tribute Tour match in Portland, Ore., on sale Saturday, Nov. 3

Tickets for the U.S. Women’s National Team match against the Republic of Ireland on Nov. 28 in Portland, Ore., go on sale to the public starting Saturday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. PT. The game, which is part of the U.S. WNT Fan Tribute Tour, presented by Panasonic, kicks off at 7 p.m. PT at JELD-WEN Field, the home of Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers.

Tickets are on sale through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and at all Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the Portland area (including Fred Meyer and Walmart stores). Tickets are also available at the JELD-WEN Field box office (open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) starting Monday, Nov. 5.

Also starting Nov. 5, groups of 20 or more can obtain an order form at ussoccer.com or call 312-528-1290.

By the time the USA arrives in Portland, half of the Fan Tribute Tour will be complete, with the 2012 Olympic champions having played Costa Rica in Rochester, N.Y., Australia in Los Angeles and Commerce City, Colo., and Germany in Chicago and East Hartford, Conn. The five tour matches held to date have averaged more than 18,000 fans a game, including three sellout crowds.

The USA is 3-0-2 so far on the Fan Tribute Tour, most recently drawing Germany twice in exciting and entertaining matches on Oct. 20 and 23. Over the five games, the U.S. Women have scored 19 goals while conceding only six.

The match in Portland starts a two-game set against Ireland that also includes a game at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Dec. 1 (7:30 p.m. MT).

The Portland event will be a homecoming of sorts for U.S. midfielder Megan Rapinoe, who starred at the University of Portland from 2005-2008, where she was a First-Team All-American, the West Coast Conference Player of the Year and helped the Pilots to an NCAA title as a freshman.

The U.S. Women will be playing their 11th all-time match in Portland, with seven previous visits coming at the venue formerly known as PGE Park or Civic Stadium. This will be the second match in JELD-WEN Field since massive renovations were made for the Timbers, with the first appearance taking place Sept. 22, 2011, in a 3-0 victory over Canada in front of 18,570 fans. The other three games in Portland were played at the University of Portland’s Merlo Field.

The U.S. won its third straight gold medal (and fourth gold medal overall) at the 2012 London Olympics. The USA went undefeated at 6-0-0 for the first time at an Olympic tournament, which included a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory in the semifinal against Canada on Aug. 6 and Carli Lloyd’s two-goal performance to lead the U.S. to a 2-1 win against 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Japan in the gold medal match on Aug. 9.
