The Spirit United Kick-Off Classic began in 1986 under the direction of Spirit United Soccer Club, and has grown from 34 teams in its first year to more than 500 total squads between the two weekends in recent years.

U-9, U-10 and U-11 age groups will play 8v8 matches, while U-12 divisions include both 8v8 and 11v11 formats. The U-13 and U-14 age groups compete in 11v11 play with 30-minute halves. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games over the course of the weekend.

This year’s field of teams includes eight reigning State Cup champions and one Region I champion side, along with a host of finalists and semifinalists, and champions of several of the region’s top leagues such as the Eastern Development Program (EDP) and various National Premier Leagues (NPL).

The top flights also include several ECNL and pre-ECNL teams. These include the rising U-14 ECNL squads from Penn Fusion, Albertson Soccer Club, Boston Breakers Academy and Continental FC. U-13 pre-ECNL from Continental FC, FC Bucks, FC Stars of Mass, FC Virginia and Penn Fusion will be competing as well.
