Sean Johnson to replace Bill Hamid at USMNT January camp

CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has made one change to the roster for the January training camp in Carson, California. Goalkeeper Sean Johnson will report to U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center to replace injured goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

The camp, which runs from Jan. 11 – Feb. 6 and contains a mix of Senior Team members and a host of players age-eligible for the U-23 MNT, will culminate with friendlies against Iceland on Jan. 31 and Canada on Feb. 5. Both matches will be played at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Johnson has earned five career caps since he made his MNT debut on Jan. 22, 2011 against Chile. He most recently stopped five shots on goal in 45 minutes of action, completing a 2-0 shutout against Panama at StubHub Center on Feb. 8, 2015.

Hamid suffered a knee injury just prior to the start of camp. He has been evaluated by the National Team medical staff and has withdrawn from camp.
