Portland Timbers U-18s beat Crossfire Premier, lead division in goals
(Via Jhamie Chin / Timbers.com) – Playing their fourth away match of the season, the Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy teams traveled to Redmond, Wash., to face Crossfire Premier at Redmond High School on Oct. 29. In their first match up against Crossfire in the 2016 campaign, the U-16s fell 2-1 on the road, with Bryan Martinez-Serrano recording his team-leading sixth goal of the regular season.
The U-18s registered their third regular-season win, defeating Crossfire 3-0, while posting their first shutout of the season. Wilterlynd Inalien recorded a brace in the win, notching his eighth goal in nine games played, while Jose Perez tallied his third goal of the season. With the result, the Timbers U-18s are tied with Sacramento Republic FC’s U-18s for the most goals scored (18) in the West U-17/18 Northwest Division.
Both Academy teams will return to league play on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13, playing consecutive away fixtures against San Diego Surf and Nomads SC.
