Glen Burnie, MD (Via MSYSA) – The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association’s Board of Directors voted to approve the affiliation request of the Prince George’s County Police Athletic League (PAL) at their December board meeting.

The Prince George’s County PAL is a juvenile crime prevention initiative that uses civic, mentoring, educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between law enforcement and youth.

“Bringing youth under the supervision and positive influence of law enforcement allows for the reinforcement of responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their families and communities,” said Executive Director for the Prince George’s County PAL, Corporal Kurt Schnitzenbaumer.

The Prince George’s County PAL assists youth in developing character, integrity and leadership skills as well as respect for themselves and others while also providing a safe alternative to drugs, alcohol, tobacco and gang activity.

“The MSYSA Board of Directors could not be prouder to affiliate the Prince George’s County PAL. The affiliation of this club will undoubtedly have a significant positive impact on the lives of many young people through the sport of soccer over the coming months and years,” said MSYSA President Mark Cantor.

“This affiliation is the first of its kind in Maryland and MSYSA is excited to work with the Prince George’s County PAL leadership to replicate this model in other counties across the state moving forward,” said MSYSA Executive Director, Greg Smith, Ph.D.
