Lynn Williams added to USWNT roster for Scandinavia trip

CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – Forward Lynn Williams has been added to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the upcoming trip to Sweden and Norway. Williams has eight caps and two international goals.

Forward Alex Morgan, who was previously named to the roster, has been ruled out of the upcoming trip to Scandinavia. Morgan, who injured her left hamstring just under three weeks ago in a league match against rival Paris Saint-Germain, recovered well enough to start yesterday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Final, also against PSG, but aggravated the injury and had to depart the match in the 23rd minute.

“It is important that Alex has appropriate time to heal and get 100% healthy and ready for the Orlando Pride,” said U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Jill Ellis. “Lynn has been gaining momentum in the league and has earned an opportunity to join us for the next two matches.”

With her stint in Lyon now over after helping the club win the Division 1 Féminine, French Cup and Champions League titles, Morgan will head back to the United States shortly to rehab the injury and prepare for the remainder of the NWSL season.

The USA will play on June 8 against Sweden at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg (1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and UDN) and against Norway on June 11 at Komplett Arena in Sandefjord (1 p.m. ET on FOX).

Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the matches.
