Lifetime achievement honorees to be recognized at 2016 US Youth Soccer Awards Gala

FRISCO, Texas (Via US Youth Soccer) — US Youth Soccer will honor the recipients of lifetime achievement awards at the 2016 US Youth Soccer Awards Gala on Friday, Jan. 15, at the Hilton Baltimore in Baltimore, Md. Three new inductees will be welcomed into the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame, and the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award for Excellence in Youth Coaching Education will be awarded.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2007 with founder and first chairman of US Youth Soccer, Donald Greer, as the charter member. This year’s Hall of Fame class includes Evelyn Gill, Peggy Neason and Bob Wertz.

In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, Bobby Howe will be awarded the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award to honor his lasting contributions to youth coaching and coaching education in the United States.

The Awards Gala will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the Key Ballroom of the Hilton Baltimore and will be hosted by The US Youth Soccer Show’s Hilary Kennedy.

In addition to four lifetime achievement honorees, the Male and Female Young Referee of the Year, Boys and Girls Recreational Coach of the Year, Boys and Girls Competitive Coach of the Year, TOPSoccer Buddy and Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Administrator of the Year national award winners will also be announced. Each award honors the individuals who give their time and effort to the organization by way of service.

Highlight videos from each of US Youth Soccer’s programs will also be shown during the gala, and the winners of the Goal and Save of the Year awards will be unveiled.

The Awards Gala is part of the US Youth Soccer Workshop, which will be held in Baltimore from Jan. 13-17. The annual Workshop will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention.
