Former D.C. United defender Ryan Nelsen signs with Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers Football Club has reached a deal with defender Ryan Nelsen on an one-year contract, according to the club’s website.

The 34 year-old’s contract will commence on July 1 following the conclusion of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

This is the second time Nelsen, who played for MLS’s D.C. United from 2001-2004, will have been signed by Mark Hughes, after the QPR Manager originally brought him to Blackburn Rovers in 2005.

Nelsen, who has made more than 170 Premier League appearances and will Captain New Zealand at this summer’s London Olympics, told www.qpr.co.uk: “I am really pleased to be joining QPR.

“I have obviously got a lot of history with the Manager and that was a massive draw for me,” Nelsen said on QPR’s official website.
