Five Real Salt Lake players called into U.S. U-20, U-23 MNT camps

SANDY, Utah (Via Real Salt Lake) – Real Salt Lake announced on Friday that U.S. U-23 National Team Head Coach Andi Herzog and U.S. U-20 National Team Head Coach Tab Ramos have each included two of its players in rosters for upcoming camps, with Ramos also adding one player from Real Monarchs.

DF Boyd Okwuonu and MF Luis Gil are on Herzog’s 24-man roster for the final U-23 camp in England before the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament in October. The camp will run in Manchester, England, from Aug. 30-Sept. 8 and will feature friendlies against England on Sept. 3 at Deepdale Stadium in Preston, and Qatar on Sept. 8 at Gigg Lane in Bury.

Additionally, DF Justen Glad and FW Sebastian Saucedo and Real Monarchs GKChristian Herrera were named to the 23-man U-20 roster for the 2015 Stevan Cilotic-Cele Tournament in Serbia. The group will begin training on Aug. 30 in Subotica and begin tournament play against Serbia on Sept. 3, before traveling to Senta for a match against France on Sept. 4. The team will conclude the tournament with a placement match on Sept. 7.

Gil is in his sixth MLS season with Real Salt Lake with 10 goals and nine assists in 132 career appearances, 88 of them starts. This season he has one assist in 22 games played.

Okwuonu is in his first MLS season after being drafted in the second round, 27th overall, in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He has three appearances for Real Salt Lake this season, making his first MLS start on July 11 against the Colorado Rapids.

Saucedo has appeared in nine matches for Real Salt Lake this season, making his lone start against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Aug. 8. The Park City, Utah, native scored 50 goals in two seasons with the RSL-AZ Academy.

Glad returned to action this year after missing a stretch at the end of last season with a knee injury. He has started six matches for Real Salt Lake this season, including in victories over Sporting Kansas City on June 21 and the Houston Dynamo on July 18.

Herrera is in his first season with Real Monarchs after a successful youth career with Real Salt Lake’s Arizona-based residence academy.
