ECNL College Impact: Southeastern Conference

RICHMOND, VA (Via ECNL) – The Elite Clubs National League College Impact series catalogs the impact the ECNL has had on college women’s soccer since its founding in 2009, which has increased every year.

The ECNL College Impact is measured by the number of ECNL alumni that have moved on to collegiate soccer, and by their contribution to collegiate athletic conferences all over the United States.

The ECNL College Impact for the SEC includes all players currently active on SEC rosters:

  • 239 ECNL alumni are currently playing in the SEC – more than 62 percent of the total players in the SEC.
  • There were 88 ECNL alums in the 2016 SEC freshman class, 77 percent of the total class.
  • 11 players on the 2016 SEC First Team are ECNL alums, and 82 percent of the overall award winners are ECNL alums.
  • The SEC Offensive Player of the Year (Savannah McCaskill), SEC Defensive Player of the Year (Kaleigh Kurtz), SEC Freshman of the Year (Sarah Luebbert), and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Casie Ramsier) are ECNL alums.
  • 100% of players on the SEC All-Freshman Team are ECNL alums.

secThe SEC includes the University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, Auburn University, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, Louisiana State University, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, University of Missouri, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, Texas A&M University, and Vanderbilt University.

With 100% of the All-Freshman honorees, more than 80 percent of the overall conference honorees, and more than 75% of the total freshman class, it is clear where the future SEC stars are playing youth soccer.
