Carter Blair named University of Richmond assistant women’s soccer coach

Former University of Richmond Spider standout Carter Blair was named assistant coach of the women’s soccer team, coach Peter Albright announced.

“Carter is a great young coach with a lot of experience,” Albright said. “She has experience coaching club and high school teams. We are really excited to have her join our staff.”

Blair will join the staff as an assistant coach. Albright also announced Peter Nash as assistant coach in the spring.

Blair played in 74 games as a Spider primarily in the midfield and back positions. Blair scored two goals as a Spider, both being game-winners. Blair, a Richmond, Va. native and Collegiate product, recorded four points and took 17 shots as in her Spider career. Blair has been playing with the Fredericksburg Impact W-League team for the past two seasons.

The Spiders welcome 10 newcomers to last year’s 13-5-3 squad. Richmond opens its 2012 slate at the Virginia Tech Tournament, Aug. 17 in Blacksburg.
