August Cup heads to Maryland SoccerPlex as preseason kicks off

Tournament partners Alliance Soccer Club, Maryland Rush Montgomery and the Maryland SoccerPlex will host 272 total teams at the August Cup this weekend for the event’s 13th annual running from August 28-30.
Once again, all games will be played on the Bermuda, Kentucky Bluegrass and turf fields at the SoccerPlex with age groups ranging from U-9 to U-19 on both the boys and girls sides. Each team will play a minimum of three games of 50 to 80 minutes depending on the age group. All championships matches will be played on Sunday at the SoccerPlex.
Attending teams hail from 74 total clubs representing eight states. Along with the host state of Maryland, clubs from Delaware, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia will have teams competing in the August Cup. The field of teams includes State Cup semifinalists from Maryland and Virginia, reigning EDP League champions, Pre-ECNL squads on the girls side and division winners from other high level events such as the Potomac Memorial Tournament, Bethesda Premier Cup and WAGS Tournament.
