Among the participating teams from the NPL, a handful of teams bring championship-level experience from the 2016 NPL Finals:

  • 17-U boys division: Manhattan SC won the 16-U NPL Finals
  • 16-U girls division: Oakwood SC was runner-up in the 15-U NPL Finals
  • 17-U girls division: FC Copa Academy was runner-up in the 16-U NPL Finals
  • 18-U girls division: NEFC won the 17-U NPL Finals

“We’re excited to see more NPL teams participating in the Jefferson Cup than ever before,” NPL General Manager Leo Garcia said. “The tournament has solidified itself as an event with quality competition and an abundance of collegiate scouting.”

US Club Soccer began officially working with the Jefferson Cup in 2015 by actively encouraging its NPL teams to apply to the Virginia-based showcase.
