ECNL: Savannah Jordan firing things up for Concorde

By Jimmy LaRoue

If there’s a more dominant goal scorer in the Elite Clubs National League so far this season, she would be hard pressed to match Concorde Fire U-18 star Savannah Jordan.

A University of Florida commit, Jordan has scored 17 goals and assisted on four others in just 11 matches, inclusive of conference and National Event play, in leading the Fire to a share of the Southeast Conference lead at 6-1-1 with Gwinnett Soccer Association.

Jordan had five goals in two matches over the past weekend, scoring twice and adding an assist in the Fire’s 4-1 win over Orlando City Saturday, and picking up a hat trick in a 4-0 shutout of VSI West FL Flames (Brandon) the following day. Allison Wetherington added a goal and an assist in Sunday’s win. The Fire have scored 26 goals while giving up just three in eight conference matches.

Gwinnett split a pair of games over the weekend, falling for the first time in conference play, 6-1 to CASL Chelsea Ladies (4-0-1) and defeating Charlotte 5-1.

Mustang SC’s U-18s won their fourth straight conference match to start the season, defeating Northwest Conference rivals San Juan Soccer Club 2-0.

Brazilian Catarina Macario is continuing her blistering pace for San Diego Surf’s U-14 ECNL team, picking up a hat trick in helping lead it went onto a 5-1 win over Slammers FC to move to 4-0-0 on the season.

Macario has scored 10 goals while playing in just four of her team’s six matches. Not to be overlooked, Chloe Frisch scored Surf’s other two goals, while the assists came from five different players. Julie Doyle leads Surf with six assists.

Tied atop the SoCal Conference but ahead on goal differential, West Coast FC has been similarly dominant to start the season, picking up its fourth win in four conference matches, and seven straight wins overall as Sophia Serafin had a goal and an assist, while Annabella Folino and Holly Kaemerle added goals. Serafin has a team-high 11 goals on the season.

FC Virginia, meanwhile, had a dominant weekend, picking up four wins in five matches against the Richmond Strikers.

In U-15 action, Concorde Fire moved to 7-0-1 on the season, picking up two wins over the weekend–5-0 over Orlando City YS and 1-0 against VSI West FL Flames (Brandon).

In the win over Orlando City, the Fire’s Katie MacGinntie and Gabriela Rivera each tallied two goals and assist, while Brook Colangelo added two assists, and Lily Ammon added a goal. MacGinntie and Rivera have combined for 15 goals on the season, with MacGinntie leading the team with eight. Colangelo has six goals and eight assists, while Ammon has six goals and four assists.

Twelve different Fire players have at least one goal or assist.

The Dallas Texans U-15s (6-0-1) don’t have as diverse an attack, but they do have two dominant scorers in Madison Haley (10 goals, 3 assists) and Haley Berg (8 goals, 4 assists).

Their opponents last Saturday, Dallas Sting (5-0-2), feature six players with at least three goals, including Lakyn Pope with eight goals, and Jordan Harr with six goals and six assists.

So naturally it should figure that the two teams played to a scoreless tie.

Sporting Blue Valley’s U-17s (4-0-0) continued its strong start to the season with a 6-1 win over St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro Sunday, with Rachel Catrell leading the way with a hat trick, and Madeline Dieker, Haley Hanson and Elizabeth Luallin adding gaols. Abigail Sieperda added two assists in the win. The Huw Williams-coached side has 11 players with at least one goal, as the team has scored 24 goals in all matches this season, including 20 in conference play.

Charlotte Soccer Academy’s U-17s (5-0-0) continued their strong play, coming off a three-week layoff for a 2-0 win Sunday over Gwinnett Soccer Association, getting goals from Morgan Mosack and Lauren Nalevaiko.
