ECNL: FC Virginia, Bethesda SC shine at Under-14 Inter-Conference Event

Most of this past weekend’s action centered on the Under-14 Inter-Conference Event in Richmond, Va. at the River City Sportsplex, with Bethesda SC and FC Virginia each sweeping its three games, while other local teams’ results were mixed.

Saturday, Bethesda scored a 1-0 win over CASL Chelsea Ladies and a 7-1 win over VSI West FL Flames, while FC Virginia scored a 2-0 win over Orlando City YS and a 1-0 win over CASL. Sunday, Bethesda defeated Orlando City 1-0, while FC Virginia defeated VSI West FL Flames 3-0.

In FCV’s opening win over Orlando City, Katie Le scored both goals, while Casey Peterson added an assist. Gabriella Gordon scored the lone goal for FCV in its shutout over CASL, as Kathleen Brumagim added an assist. In Sunday’s win, Gordon, Casey Kent and Kaitlyn Small all had goals, while Le and Allison Maliska had assists.

Following its shutout over CASL, Bethesda got a stellar performance from Olivia Kane, who had a hat-trick and two assists in the win over VSI West FL, while Jamie Fink and Cameron Murtha each had a goal and an assist. Kendall Hamilton and Montanna Hill each scored once, and Maria Harrington assisted on two goals.

Fink added both Bethesda’s goals in Sunday’s win over Orlando City, with Kane added to her standout weekend with two assists.

McLean Youth Soccer had mixed results in Richmond, sandwiching a 2-1 win over Orlando City around two shutout losses to VSI West FL Flames and CASL, 1-0 and 2-0, respectively.

Freestate Soccer Alliance and Richmond Strikers each suffered three losses, while Virginia Rush lost twice on Saturday and rebounded Sunday for a 1-1 tie against Carolina Elite Soccer Academy. Both Rush and the Strikers suffered blowout losses to FC Stars of Massachusetts, 9-0 and 7-0 respectively, while Freestate lost to FC Stars by a 2-1 margin. Rush and the Strikers each lost 3-0 to Charlotte Soccer Academy, and Strikers also also lost 5-1 to Concorde Fire.
