Virginia State Cup Finals this weekend in Richmond

[Updated: The finals have been moved to next Sunday, November 4. Semifinals are going on as scheduled]

And then there were four (in eight different age/gender groups each at least).

This weekend marks yet another “Final Four” weekend of Virginia Youth Soccer Association’s Fall State Cup. And like three years ago, heavy rains in the forecast are threatening with the possibility of only Saturday’s semifinals making it in the books. The difference this year is the finals are on turf fields at River City Sportsplex (formerly Sports Quest), so may be able to handle the finals as long as it’s safe for the players.

As of 4:00 p.m. Friday, this plan was still to try and get the finals in, although the VYSA website lists the finals as “November 4”, the actual schedule linked from that listing still reads October 28.

Either way, the games will get played eventually, and our own Jimmy LaRoue has been busy all week (and all fall) tracking the tournament. From Tuesday to Friday this week, he submitted previews and predictions for your enjoyment and even debate if you so choose.

Here are the preview links:

Boys: U15  |  U16  |  U17  |  U18

Girls: U15  |  U16  |  U17  |  U18
