Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Hammerheads announced that Jason Arnold, who formerly served as Executive Director of USL Youth Leagues and as USL PRO and MISL Director of Operations, has been appointed General Manager of the club. His new role is effective immediately.
As general manager of the Hammerheads, Arnold will oversee the operations of all individual divisions while providing ongoing direction for the development of the club.
Arnold comes to the Hammerheads following his management of youth league programs within USL, including Super-Y League, Super-20 League, Next Generation Series, and Olympic Development Program.
“We are pleased to have Jason join the Wilmington Hammerheads staff as we continue to transition into our 2014 planning,” said Wilmington Hammerheads Owner George Altirs. “He brings the experience and the skill set that will ensure positive growth and development of the club.”
Arnold joined USL in 2010 as USL PRO and MISL Director of Operations prior to engaging in his previous role as Executive Director of USL Youth Leagues in March 2012. Arnold served as the primary league contact for professional team executives and owners while also developing procedures and protocols for both professional leagues.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be named general manager of an organization with such a rich history as the Wilmington Hammerheads, and I am extremely excited to get started,” said Arnold. “The Hammerheads are an organization that I know very well and have had the opportunity to work with for many years during my time at the league office. I believe the opportunities for growth and community involvement in Wilmington are endless. The future is bright and I look forward to bringing the team to the next level, both on and off the field.”
As a player, Arnold is a three-time NCAA College Cup final four participant with the University of Maryland where he graduated in 2004.
Matt Sadler, former general manager of the Wilmington Hammerheads, has taken the role of Director of Development for the team.
