SoccerWire.com Best 11 Players for March 2016

SoccerWire.com readers cast more than 33,000 votes to select the Best 11 youth players during March 2016, recognizing top performances from the Jefferson Cup, FC Europa Turf Cup, Loudoun Soccer College Showcase and the EDP League.

A total of 80 players were on the ballot, with the readers choosing Pittsburgh Riverhounds U-18 Girls midfielder Bailey Cartwright as the top of the bunch thanks to her outstanding performance in the top bracket of the Jefferson Cup as she helped lead her team to a pair of wins over ECNL sides. Cartwright received over 2,900 total votes.

Matteo Spilimbergo of Maryland side OBGC Rangers Blue and Taylor Whitmer of Oni Premier Soccer Academy came in second and third respectively, each garnering more than 2,500 votes for their impressive play at the Jefferson Cup.

All 11 players named to the March 2016 Best-11 list received at least 1,700 votes, and three other players – Aideen O’Donoghue (Pittsburgh Riverhounds), Abby Fusca (Vienna Youth Soccer) and Whitney Wiley (Vienna Youth Soccer) – racked up at least 1,300 votes each, coming in at the No. 12-14 positions.

The full list of players in this month’s voting was composed of all players submitted by coaches, technical directors and SoccerWire.com staff on the site’s ‘Players That Impressed’ feature, where any player submitted by a team or club coach has their outstanding performance recognized.

Each player selected for the Best 11 list receives a free featured college recruiting profile on SoccerWire.com.
