U.S. U-19 MNT falls to host Slovakia in last Slovakia Cup group game

SENICA, Slovakia (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-19 Men’s National Team fell to host country Slovakia 3-1 in its final group match of the 2016 Slovakia Cup.

Slovakia came out strong and was rewarded in the fifth minute after Kristian Vallo assisted Lubomir Tupta for the first goal. In the 12th minute, Slovakia increased its lead with Tupta again providing the goal.

The U.S. countered less than a minute later with Marlon Fossey assisting Colby Agu to narrow the scoreline to 2-1. Slovakia’s Tupta earned a hat trick in the 62nd minute after Christian Herc assisted to close the scoring at 3-1.

Even with the loss, the U.S. still advances to the 2016 Slovakia Cup final thanks to its previous strong victories against Georgia (5-1) and Ukraine (2-1). The final will take place April 29 at Myjava Stadium to face Russia.
