U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team tops India 4-0 in AIFF Youth Cup

GOA, India (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team shut out India 4-0 in its second match at the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup.

The USA started its goal spree in the 28th minute as Will Sands got on the score board with the assist by Andrew Carleton. In the 39th minute, Sands and Carleton combined for another goal to earn Sands a brace, and Carleton earning his second assist. Seconds before halftime, the USA’s Chandler Vaugh made it 3-0, thanks to Kevin Negrete with the assist.

The U.S. continued to control the second half as Negrete got on the board when Arturo Vasquez assisted the forward.

After the win, the U.S. jumped up to second place in the tournament standings with four points, just one point shy of first place team Tanzania, which has played a game more. South Korea sits just below the USA with four points as it has a worse goal difference, Malaysia dropped to fourth place with one point and India rounds out the standings in last place, earning one point with a negative six goal differential.

The USA will face South Korea on May 21 in its third match.
