U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team ties FC Dallas reserves 2-2

The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team held the FC Dallas reserve team to a 2-2 draw on Feb. 26. The teams met at a friendly at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla.

The U.S. took the early lead, scoring twice within the first 24 minutes of the game. Daniel Cuevas received the ball from Mikey Lopez and scored on a fast break, beating his defender with a hard low shot to the opposite corner of the goal in the 20th minute.

Villyan Bijev doubled the USA’s lead in the 24th minute with a decisive shot after latching onto the ball when FC Dallas failed to clear from 20 yards out.

FC Dallas pulled one back just before the half, with Jonathan Top firing an 18-yard strike into the roof of the net. In the 83rd minute, Ruben Luna leveled the score. Andrew Wiedeman provided the assist as he slotted the ball across the box, and Luna finished with a quick shot into the low corner of the goal.

The U.S. looked the better technical side throughout, though FC Dallas had the physical advantage toward the end of the game.
