WASHINGTON (Via George Washington University) – The George Washington women’s soccer squad remained undefeated in Atlantic 10 play on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Massachusetts at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.

The Colonials (9-4-0, 4-0-0 A-10) extend their win streak to seven with the win – the most consecutive triumphs since the 2010 squad’s seven game streak. Massachusetts (4-5-3) took its second straight conference loss and dropped to 1-2-1 in A-10 play.

The match was scoreless during most of the first half as the teams traded possession until the 41st minute, when the Colonials converted a corner kick for the eventual gamewinner. Senior Brooke Stoller took the corner and placed the ball in front of the goal where redshirt-senior Nicole Belfonti netted her second score of the season with a header into the right side of the net to put the Colonials up, 1-0.

Defense reigned on both sides of the field in the second stanza, as a scoreless half clinched the victory for the Colonials. The Minutewomen had an opportunity to score with a corner kick in the 88th minute, but were unable to execute as GW dominated possession for the final 10 minutes of the contest to solidify the victory, 1-0.

GW outshot the Minutewomen, 10-7, on the day and led in corner kicks, 6-2.

Redshirt-sophomore keeper Miranda Horn posted a trio of saves in the contest to help the Colonials to their seventh clean sheet of the season.

The Colonials begin a two-game A-10 road trip on Thursday evening at VCU before visiting Richmond for a Sunday matinee.
