Eidson was outstanding defensively and was the launching pad for many attacks down the flank against McLean at the Virginia Elite Showcase. She had an overall great tournament.

Gambone had a goal and an assist in her team’s 3-1 win over FC Bucks at the ECNL Showcase on Sunday.

Green had a solid weekend in ECNL action, helping her team to a draw and a win against Strikers FC and Minnesota Thunder, respectively. Aggressive yet measured, Ari’s best trait is her ability to read the game and step up using her athletic speed to cut out impending danger at the source. The center back also took a free kick from the halfway line, striking the ball with considerable force. It landed inside the penalty area and bounced over the Minnesota goalkeeper’s head and into the net unassisted to put the team up 2-0. For a select few who manage it, scoring from the halfway line is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement but Ari made it look easy.

With the defense playing from the back, Hartman was the focal point that led to the most penetration into the opponents’ end in Loudoun’s match against the BAC Cyclones at the Virginian Elite Showcase. The defender was a key player in disrupting the opponents’ long balls up the middle and transitioning to counter attacks.

Normally a forward, Hendrickson moved into midfield and scored one goal and had several assists in running an offense that scored nine total goals to finish 2nd in the top bracket at the Virginian. She was constant goal and assist threat out of midfield and on set pieces.

Jesselson had a brace to lift her team to a 3-3 draw against FSA FC at the PDA Showcase on Saturday.

Kolcum led the Chantilly Storm with an impressive seven goals and two assists during five games in the FC Delco Players Cup to help the team reach the Championship Match of the tournament.

Murtha scored four of her team’s five goals on the weekend in Bethesda’s two wins at the ECNL Showcase, running her season total to an impressive 16. She also had an assist, bringing her season total to 7. Led by Murtha, Bethesda improved to 10-3-6 overall, remaining second in the Ohio Valley Division and holding onto the No. 14 Champions League playoff seed.

Nguyen led her McLean team in goals with four, and propelled them to a second place place finish in the top bracket at the Virginian. The forward had a hat trick against highly ranked PWSI in the semifinal match to garner McLean a 3-1 victory.

Featured Player error.

Polk-Trauman was ever present defensively and led the team’s attacks from the back. She also scored her first goal in VYS’ 2-0 win over Arlington at the Virginian.

Stockero played very solid in the back and was instrumental for the team to reach the final at the Potomac Tournament in the U17 age group. His calm demeanor, focus, hard work and quiet leadership was one of the major reasons the team succeeded this past weekend.

Every month we publish at least three weekly Best 11 lists, Soccer Wire will also publish a Potomac Soccer Wire “Players of the Month” list which will include the top performers at each of the four primary positions of goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward.

IDEALLY player nominations will be submitted by coaches naming the player as the MVP of their match as posted in our new companion website. To do so, a coach or team manager only has to add their game (or click on the game report if it’s already entered), add the player to the roster and name them as the MVP.

Otherwise, all player nominations, from any league, may be submitted here by technical staff members of the players’ clubs or by licensed coaches who observed them play in a competitive game with the previous week.

Team managers and coaches can get a head start by pre-loading your rosters anytime. Just find your team at, create a free user account and click to request team management rights.
