Potomac Soccer Wire Best 11 Players: August 31 – September 6, 2015

Congratulations to this week’s Potomac Soccer Wire Best 11 players, a list for the top performers across all youth travel soccer clubs based in DC and the states that touch the Potomac River. Each list is selected by our staff from nominations sent in from coaches, as well as from personal observation of our reporters and other trusted sources.

Andrade kept a clean sheet for Loudoun and made two penalty kick saves in the OBGC Tournament final vs. BRYC. The goalkeeper recorded three shutouts in four games at the tournament.

In the OBGC Tournament’s top division semifinal, Bakhtari was fearless and strong in a central midfield role where he consistently shut down opposing attacks and transitioned the ball into his own team’s possession. He played quickly and simply, and his efforts made the game easier for his teammates.

Davis’ brace led the U13/14 D.C. United team to a 3-1 win over NJCSA in Development Academy action on Saturday.

Dove had a brace and was a dominate presence up top for the Bethesda-Olney U18 Academy Team, leading the team to a 3-1 come from behind victory on Saturday over FC Westchester.

Hatcher had a hat trick in SYC’s Rush for the Cup victory over the Calverton Revolution. The forward displayed an incredible work rate pressing up front, persistent dribbling in taking on central defenders, and he created space for his teammates. Hatcher dropped back to help defend in transition and held the ball up front to release pressure from the opposite team.

Hawkins was a hardworking and consistent outside back, and was influential in helping VYS go undefeated in their three games at the OBGC Tournament without giving up a goal.

Kelly came up huge last weekend at the DMV Premier Cup. Playing primarily in the 9 role, she was a true goal scorer. After finding the net twice on Saturday, she made a huge PK in the semifinals. With the team down 2-0 in the finals, she went on a tear, notching a hat trick in the second half and leading her team to a 4-2 win and 1st place.

Lawrence scored four total goals for SYA in the OBGC Tournament.

Moon, the starting outside back for McLean, had a remarkable six goals in four games at the OBGC Tournament. She scored in each of the four games.

The midfielder controlled the tempo throughout the weekend at the OBGC Tournament for Herndon United, helping her team to the final.

Umana scored the only two goals of the game, leading D.C. United to a 2-0 shutout DA win over NJCSA on Saturday

Every month we publish at least three weekly Best 11 lists, Soccer Wire will also publish a Potomac Soccer Wire “Players of the Month” list which will include the top performers at each of the four primary positions of goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward.

Player nominations, from any league, may be submitted here by technical staff members of the players’ clubs or by licensed coaches who observed them play in a competitive game with the previous week.
