CHARLESTON, S.C. (Via US Club Soccer) – The 16th edition of the National Cup, US Club Soccer’s cup-based national championship series, features five Regionals in June 2017.

The National Cup includes various state cups, which begin in the spring, before progressing to the National Cup XVI Regionals – held in five locations throughout the country. Ultimately, qualifying teams then compete for national titles at the National Cup XVI Finals, to be held July 21-24 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.

Regionals are open to all member teams in 12-U through 18/19-U boys and girls age groups (birth years: 2005s, 2004s, 2003s, 2002s, 2001s, 2000s and combined 1998/99s). Winning 13-U through 18/19-U boys and girls teams (birth years: 2004s, 2003s, 2002s, 2001s, 2000s, 1998/99s) from Regionals and qualifying state cups advance to the National Cup XVI Finals.

West Regional
Most hosting venues are familiar to US Club Soccer’s National Cup history, and the trifecta of Davis Legacy Soccer Complex, Nugget Fields and Granite Park is no exception. This marks the fifth consecutive year hosting the West Regional for those complexes. The West Regional was previously held on separate, consecutive weekends for boys and girls teams, but this year’s event will be combined. The result is a competitive environment with 20+ fields in use.

Midwest Regional
The Midwest Regional is the longest running host of a Regional, as Libertyville Township Soccer Complex and Waukegan Sports Park enter their sixth consecutive year. Last year’s National Cup XV Midwest Regional included nearly 250 teams.

Southeast Regional
You have to take a dive into the US Club Soccer archives to find the last time BB&T Soccer Park hosted a Regional, which was 2008-10. The complex is well-equipped for the event, as it includes 12 Bermuda fields and a stadium field.

Northwest Regional
The Northwest Regional moves to a new location in 2017. SOZO Sports Complex in Yakima, Wash., opens its doors to US Club Soccer members vying for National Cup glory. It’s a sprawling venue that opened this past summer with 58 acres of multi-use grass and turf fields.

Mid-Atlantic Regional
The Mid-Atlantic Regional in Somerset, N.J., concludes the Regional slate. PDA Soccer Complex and Morningside Farm enter their fourth consecutive year hosting the event.

National Cup XVI Finals
While the dates and location of the National Cup XVI Finals was announced a few weeks ago, the impressive facility of Grand Park in Westfield, Ind., should not be understated. The 2017 NPL Finals – the league-based national championship event for all National Premier Leagues clubs – will take place a week before the National Cup XVI Finals. Then, participating National Cup XVI Finals teams get their shot at the record books, marking the second time in three years that Grand Park will has hosted both national championships.
