When Virginia Commonwealth junior forward Jason Johnson signed a Generation adidas contract on Dec. 20, guaranteeing himself a multi-year deal in Major League Soccer, he became the first Ram to do so in program history. Johnson was among the first four Generation adidas signees of the 2013 draft class, and has spent the last month working on improving his draft stock for the 2013 MLS Superdraft on Jan. 17 in Indianapolis.

The 2013 MLS Superdraft is only 15 days away and it will occur in the home state of the reigning NCAA champion Indiana Hoosiers. 19 MLS front offices will spend countless hours over the next two weeks scouting players at the combine and evaluating their rosters as another regular season quickly closes in. These players are who we think will be the first five off the board on Jan. 17 in Indianapolis.

After weighing a Generation adidas contract offer from Major League Soccer, Maryland star Patrick Mullins has elected to stay in school for his senior season with the Terrapins.

According to a Tweet by Washington Post soccer expert Steven Goff, Maryland junior forward Patrick Mullins is currently weighing an offer from MLS and could make a decision by the end of the week.

A list of 54 NCAA Div. I players invited to the 2013 Major League Soccer Combine, which takes place Jan. 11-15. The list is highlighted by College Cup finalists Ian Christianson (M), Tommy Muller (D) and Jimmy Nealis (D) of Georgetown, and National Champion Indiana’s Luis Soffner (GK).

Third-seeded Georgetown defeated No. 2 seed Maryland 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the teams tied 3-3 after 110 minutes of full time plus two overtime periods in Friday evening’s College Cup semifinal in Hoover, Ala.

There are only three matches remaining in the men’s college soccer season, as the College Cup plays out this weekend in Hoover, Ala. with No. 16 Indiana taking on No. 12 Creighton and No. 2 Maryland facing No. 3 Georgetown. The winners will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. in the National Championship.
