Thierry Henry scores another epic goal … No really, have you seen his latest?

Strikers Logo

Thierry Henry has scored many, many goals — more than 200 of them in a glittering club career which has taken him from Monaco to Juventus to Arsenal to Barcelona and now, the New York Red Bulls, in addition to the 51 netted during his international career with France.

Fans could probably argue all day about which ones were his best. But his latest has, at the very least, got to be in the conversation.

On Saturday Henry took a square pass from teammate Lloyd Sam, stutter-stepped inside to make a small pocket of space from his defender and hammered a searing blast into the far top corner of the net to lead the Red Bulls to a 2-1 victory over defending MLS Cup champions Sporting Kansas City at Red Bull Arena.

It was a huge goal from a huge player, and it secured a huge win that helped prop up New York’s playoff hopes, and it also gave the world another reason to cherish the Frenchman’s exquisite skills during the latter stages of a season that many believe will be his last.

The goal prompted MLSsoccer.com’s New York beat writer Franco Panizo to ponder whether it was the best goal Henry’s scored during his MLS career.

Others were reminded of the iconic “#FlipHenry” tribute piece created by KICKTV last year.

Where do you think this one stacks up? Did it outdo the best strikes from his heyday in the English Premier League?

And can we really allow this all-time great to hang up his cleats when he’s clearly capable of hitting world-class goals like this at any moment?
